A Breath for the Sunset

You know, sunset is always beautiful. No words can ever explain how perfect the scene is, and no eyes can ever appreciate enough of how brilliant the colours from the sun mixed together to paint the picture. Breath-taking is really a suitable word to describe it, because as one looks at the view, he may have gasped and forgotten how to breathe, literally.

And every sunset is different, despite the fact that the Earth has gone through endless evenings, at different location and time.

I felt wasted as I realised I nearly miss the sunset. I only managed to catch a glimpse at the purplish sky, before it turned navy blue. And the street lights couldn't wait to be the one catching my attention, as I was still mesmerised by God's painting.

One may not know if tomorrow will surely come. But if it does, it is going to start in a way which is as awesome as the way it ends.

Where is My Sky?

Standing in the middle of the open space, I stared unto the night sky. Expecting mysterious navy blue sky be sprinkled with twinkling stars, or patches of clouds serenely floating above me.

But no, I see the sky brightened by neon lights, all over the city. It's already 9pm, but it looked as if the sun has yet to set. As if, the sun refused to rest, refused to let the moon taking over its role to shine for the Earth. Or was it the act of mankind, going against the nature?

The city doesn't like to sleep, does it? That everyone's trying their best to stay awake, to stay ahead. But little do they know that if one's soul needs no rest, one does not live anymore. They're still breathing, but not living.

For they've lost the essence of life, which is to spend a little time for a quiet moment, to stare at the night sky and enjoy the darkness that only be penetrated by humble stars.

It Rained in a Sunny Afternoon

Against the golden ray from the sun, rain drops gently decended from the silver sky. If one didn't look close enough, he wouldn't realise the silent expression of the heaven.

It was a sunny day. The cheerful sky wasn't tainted by a single piece of dark cloud. Bright sunshine. A good time to do our laundry. Maybe we can go to the park for a while.

Yet the truth was, maybe the sky didn't feel as cheerful as we thought it was. Who said it can't rain when the sky isn't dark? Who can tell if one is smiling in front of everybody yet is actually gloomy inside?

Drizzle soon became a heavy downpour. It was too late to notice the rain when it's audible, as the laundry may not be saved in time. Yet, the sun remained shining as bringhly as ever, thorugh the branches of the trees. Leaves danced in joy, welcoming the relief in a hot Monday afternoon.

As quickily as the previous transformation, the rain slowed down. Still drizzling, but not bone-piercing. The breeze fooled the earth into believing that it's still hopeful for a walk at the park later.

It is unpredictable for the sky to rain in a sunny day. It is also difficult to tell when will the rain stop. But it will stop one day. And rainbow will hang in the sky, as the fruit bore through perseverance.

And the sun will still be shining in the sky, as charmingly as ever.

Sun Rise

Sometimes I’m amazed at the situation we learn things. Out of the blue, we’ll just have this thought pops into our mind and there you go, a lesson of the day.

This morning while I was traveling to HUKM on my campus bus, I’ve been reminded on something I’ve learnt before. And it feels good to be reminded again.

The trip to HUKM from my hostel, KTSN was only a 20 minutes drive in the traffic-jam-free morning. Before this I always thought it’s an hour’s ride! Well, anyway, since the seats were taken, some of us have to stand for the entire journey.

It was quite an early bus for us and a lot of us were forced to wake up earlier than usual. Hence it’s not surprising to see those lucky ones with the seats were fast asleep or at least closed their eyes in hope to get extra rest as the bus made its way to HUKM.

Half way down the road, we manage to catch the sun rise – something that’s as breath-taking as … no, it’s beyond my ability to describe it in words. The golden rays of the sun project unto the clear, borderless sky and reflected on the clouds, the cars, the birds flew by, and into my eyes. I was quite deprived of quality sleep the night before and I hadn’t got the chance to take a gulp of coffee before I set foot out of my room. Yet, I was fully awake by the sight and intrigued by God’s creation. The combination of colours is just perfectly astonishing!

I don’t always have the chance to catch the sun rise, moreover in KL where high-rise buildings are everywhere, the marvelous start-of-the-day art is not always available for us. I stared at the view, then on my friends who were resting their eyes, and back to the sky again.

What a waste.

Even if you’ve had the chance to watch every sun rise of the year, you will still be amazed by it everyday. No sun rise is ever the same with the other days’. The birds won’t fly by at exactly 7am every morning from same direction so to say. The degree of sun rays and hence the reflection on the sky is different as the pattern of cloud at that very moment makes the combination exclusively for that day, that moment only. And if we were to miss it, we’ve missed another good piece of priceless art.

It is the start of a new day. I started my day with a simple yet beautiful scene, a good mood, a fresh reminder that new hope has in stored for us. How about you?

A Walk at the Park

Finished my mid semester exam last paper 3 hours ago. What a relieve! Not because the paper was easy, but was because everyone think it's tough! Hee hee~ Anyway, I decided to do something to adjust back my mental status, ha. I thought of going out, maybe to bookstore again. But tonight's plan of speculating the fireworks celebration of Malaysia's 50th Independence Day with Su Yin reminded me of possible traffic jams and crowd outside. I might as well get some rest on the bed with a good book. I haven't finished Jodi Picoult's Songs of the Humpback Whale. It's good I finish this book before I buy a new one.

At the end, the windy weather urged me to have a walk at Tasik Titiwangsa, a beautiful park situated right outside my hostel. Sometimes I like to ask my friends along. But I believe this time most of them went out partying to celebrate the end of the midsem exam and also independence day *smile* So, I just brought along my MP3 player and set off.

It was a nice walk. KTSN itself is a beautiful hostel, with trees all over the large compound, people playing volley ball at the court and so on. The main reason everything seemed so wonderful is because of the rain before this. It has washed the Earth clean and left the breeze to be so fresh in a piece of land situated in the middle of the KL city. Some pictures of KTSN:

It was very quite and peaceful around the park. I walked pass my favourite tunnel which is grown with leaves all over it. I walked slowly, letting my leg carry me to a place I know too well to get lost - the concourse where Eye on Malaysia fairy wheel is. I looked around the green park, but I wasn't observing. My eyes needed to relax after a few days and nights of straining as I burnt the midnight oil. The music played in my ears and the breeze blew on my face. A pair of husband and wife were playing badminton with each other. How nice is it to have a partner you can always play badminton with? Or carry out any other activities with? That's what marriage is, no? A soul mate whom you can give your hands to and walk the rest of the journey together.
Picture of Eye on Malaysia:
The lake is a wonderful place to visit if you know how to appreciate it. I wonder if the people at war would ever get a chance to experience this peacefulness? Will they ever have a moment not thinking about anything, not worrying about wandering around and not be kidnapped, with no fear about when and where the next bomb is going to land...

Malaysia is turning 50 by tonight. She is a well-blessed nation I have to say. Despite the multiracial and multicultural society, the country stands strong because the people are united. A dream fought by so many knights years ago, and they had succeded -- to announce the land independent from colonization. A journey walked by so many leaders and followers, as they headed the same direction -- to see Malaysia thrive. A future to be uphold together by the next generation -- to maintain our identity, the colourful Malaysia as she always is, and yet, a more developed country as she WILL be.

Malaysia Boleh!

It rains

It was a hot day since morning. But in the evening, it became so windy and comfortable. Not too long, it rained. Not the few-minutes down pour, but long enough to hypnotize you to your dreamland.

The Earth became so fresh and beautiful after rain, provided KL has not had this kind of down pour recently. It's cooling and managed to wash your mind off the long day at class, work, lab... and give you another fresh start of revision at night!

Mid sem exam is coming up in less than 2 weeks time! I seriuosly have to put my butt on the chair and do revision.
